“How D’Prince convinced me to abandon my rap genre and switch to Afrobeat” – Mavin Record Label signee, Rema

Mavin Record Label signee and Afrobeat maestro, Rema has disclosed how D’Prince advised him to abandon rap genre and switch to Afrobeat.

During his interview with America’s Q 99.7 Atlanta FM, the Jonzing world signee outlined that he was only into rapping genre until his boss,  D’Banj discovered his voice.

He tried to push his rapping career even when he was signed to Jonzing world but D’Prince quenched it by recommending him to give Aftobeat a try.

According to his claim, he vowed that he tried to reject the offer but his words pushed him to venture into Afrobeat even though it was not his natural genre.

In his words, he said:

“D’Prince told me that he likes my voice, and he feels like I’m gonna sound really good on Afrobeats. I told him I don’t really do Afrobeat, I just rap, so he said ‘Give it a try’.”
