The Buruku Local Government Council of Benue State has revealed ongoing plans to construct a 10,000-capacity beach resort at the bank of the Buruku River to attract touris and boost the overall internally generated revenue of not only the local government but the state at large.
This was revealed by the local government council chairman, Mr Raymond Zege, during the birthday celebration of the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Mr Tiza Imojime which was held on Saturday at Mbaape.
According to report from the News Agency of Nigeria, the Buruku Local Government Council has allocated 10 hectares of land for the “Buruku Beach Resort” project at the bank of River Buruku and the project is expected to kickstart properly in earnest.
Mr Zege revealed that the project is targeted to meet international standards in all its ramifications as it stands to showcase the tourist potential of the people of Buruku. He also disclosed that the “Buruku Beach Resort” construction is a public-private partnership with immense support from the state governor, Father Hyacinth Alia.
Talking about insecurity, which is one of the paramount issues plaguing some parts of Benue State, The Chairman revealed that security measures have been implemented to ensure the ultimate guarantee of securing the lives and properties of tourists. He mentioned that the recent launch of a new security outfit, “Operation Anyam Nyor” by the state governor, Father Alia, is part of the efforts to curtail the incessant insecurities that have bedevilled some parts of the state.
“The council will unveil other details of the project in due course” he concluded.
