Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has apointed former Mali coach Èric Chelle as their head coach after a long search for the perfect fit for Super Eagle’s managing duty.
He was announced as the newly appointed Super Eagles Manager via an official statement that identified him as the first African non Nigerian to manage Super Eagles.
The Nigerian managing space has been in shamble since the exit of Jose Peseiro who lost AFCON 2023 final to Ivory coast. Effort made to revive the team foresaw the Management appointing former Al Ahly’s manager, Finidi George. His approach failed to yield progress after Nigeria lost to South Africa and Benin during the last 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
NFF appointed another retired Super Eagles player, Egauvoen who strictly secured Nigerian 2025 AFCON place. However, despite his Dominance, he has been replaced by Chelle as he graces his spot as the team technical director.
Per available information, his current goal is to attain Nigeria 2026 World Cup qualification. There’s no clue to how long the contract offered to him will exceed as he has been officially announced as the new head coach of Super Eagles.
