During Zuchu’s thanksgiving party, among gifting his latest signee, a brand new ride and, many other things, Wasafi Records CEO Diamond Platnumz announced that he is officially closing his chapter with Universal Music Group.
Diamond, who has been under Universal roughly for the last four years, took the time to speak of his experience during the ceremony.
Although he did not get down to the nitty-gritty, from his speech, it was crystal clear that he has seen and learned a lot with the experience.
Citing Vanessa Mdee’s signing, Diamond expressed his concern for any new artist trying to get signed under a label without knowing the repercussions of the action.
“Na nisiwe mnafiki, ninapo ona msanni yeyote kwanza akisign kwa mara ya kwanza namskitia”. Stated part of his speech.
He went on to reveal that he has a lot that he would love to disclose especially, to his fellow artists but, he would not go about it on social media.
Well, as the wise would put it, those with ears should heed his warning and go about this particular idea exactly, as he suggests, after all, he is arguably the best musician East Africa has got. Don’t you agree?
