Okporoko rhymes pioneer and Native Records signee, “Odumodublvck” is currently being criticized by netizens over his recent revelation on Twitter.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the rapper, originally known as Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, disclosed that he would rather pick Skepta’s necklace over a Grammy win.
His tweet has however, been causing a “near-fenzi” on the social media platform as mixed reactions continue to trail the comments section.
Odumodublvck had written a “eulogy” about his achievements since his elevation to stardome. He praised his efforts while expressing excitement as he says he “cannot even quantify the feeling.”
It was however, obvious to Xclusiveloaded that the Enugu born rapper and songwriter was excited to see himself putting on Skepta’s chain. His words, “ODUMODU. SKEPTAS CHAIN IS ON YOUR NECK” confirms this. His text in full read:
“MOST TIMES I DECIDE NOT TO THINK ABOUT MY ACHIEVEMENTS BUT SOMETIMES I JUST GOTTA PAUSE AND THINK.
“ODUMODU. SKEPTAS CHAIN IS ON YOUR NECK”
“SKEPTA.
“I CANNOT EVEN QUANTIFY THE FEELING SO THEREFORE I CANNOT REALLY EXPRESS WHAT IT MEANS.
“BUT FOR CONTEXT. IF YOU GIVE ME A GRAMMY OR SKEPTAS CHAIN.
“I WILL TAKE THE CHAIN. CALL ME CRAZY BUT THATS MY REALITY.
“#EZIOKWU #THETRUTH”
Over the years, Odumodublvck has been known for idolizing Skepta, a British-Nigerian grime MC, rapper and record producer who became popular after the release of his debut album “Greatest Hits” on September 17, 2007.
Odumodu is not the only rapper in this league. Several upcoming and underground rappers especially in Nigeria look up to him as a god, an elite and role model in the rap industry.
For Native, as he is otherwise called, wearing Skepta’s chain is a major achievement in his musical career.
However, following his tweet, netizens have had their opinions to share. While some chant his praises, others feel his claims are only delusional. Little wonder Beni called him a “Dirty Liar!”
Another fan, Emmanuel says: “You’re right. Because you might not even win a Grammy”
Charlie of Warri wrote: “When you value something so much, I know the feeling.🤲🏾”
Interestingly, JustPorlee thinks that wearing Skepta’s chain might even fetch him a Grammy award soon. He wrote:
“Big kala make I yarn you bro as you carry the chain, Skepta go still give you Grammy bro …. The two shall be your one day….🤞🏾”
This tells how divided fans can be. And also reveals that not all social media followers are actually fans.
Recall that Odumodublvck rose to fame in 2022 following the release of his first single under Native Records, “Picanto” featuring ECko Miles, and Zlatan.
Since after the release of Picanto, the rapper has fast taken his place in the hearts of hip hop music lovers in Nigeria and beyond and is fast becoming a rap sensation in the Afro music industry with the release of several other hit tracks including “Declan Rice” amongst others.
His exquisite stage performances and unwavering ability to blend genres help him put himself in the fore with a very fast pace.
He is known for his public display of the Igbo people’s traditional hat of red and white colours and has caught the attention of many other music experts cum professionals across the country including Davido, the CEO and founder of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).
