Tinubu forwards new list of ministerial nominees to Senate

As lawmakers continued to screen the first batch of nominees sent to the national assembly for President Tinubu’s ministerial appointments, the president yesterday, forwarded a second list of 19 ministerial nominees.

President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajamiabila made the presentation to the Senate during plenary.

According to him, the nominees are: Ahmed Tijani Kwazo, Bosun Tijani, Dr Isiak Salako, Dr Tunji Alausa, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Adegboyega Oyetola, Atiku Bagudu, Bello Mattawale, Ibrahaim Gaidam, Simon Lalong, Lola Ade John,

Others are Dr Mariam Shetti, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, Prof Taye Mamman, Sen Sabi Abdullahi, Senator Alkali Ahmed Saidu, Senator Heineken Lokpobori, Uba Maigari Ahmadu and Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo.

Earlier media reports had disclosed that the second list would be forwarded to the NASS on Wednesday as the lawmakers were close to rounding off the process.

Xclusiveloaded has learned that indeed, the list was submitted on Wednesday as a source who didn’t want to be quoted had said “By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled, so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening.

“We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess. We wouldn’t want a situation where we would go on recess and we would now start calling lawmakers to come for screening.”

PDP inaugurates Nat’l Campaign Councils for Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi guber polls

In another development, The Peoples Democratic Party, on yesterday, inaugurated its National Campaign Councils for the Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi governorship elections slated for November 11.

PDP acting Nationl chairman, Umar Damagun during the inauguration, charged members of the campaign councils to ‘go and conquer.’

He said, “You have been selected carefully because of what you can do, regardless of where you come from. We have confidence in you, that you will go there and conquer. We expect nothing but victory.

“You are going in at a time when the country as it is, everybody is feeling the burden of the mistakes that have happened in this country. What is expected of you is to go there and remind them that this is not what we bargained for and that there is a time God in his infinite mercies gives us to change the course of history, and this is the time.

“We will have Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi. These are PDP states. Somehow, they slipped away but Bayelsa has always had a PDP governor. I want to challenge everyone in this country to look at the states governed by PDP governors viz-a-viz the other parties. We have always excelled.

“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate you and urge you to do what you know how to do best and at the same time, play within the rules. Everybody knows that our party has always respected the rule of law. The fact that they are doing the contrary does not mean we should change our minds. We should not follow them; we should always play by the rules.”

The party, through its chairman vowed that all its candidates are confident of winning the November 11 governorship polls.
