In what appears to be an unusual scenario, a certain APC supporter was seen recently as he had an altercation with popular Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu on twitter.
The tweep who accused Yesufu of bigotry, said that she only criticizes top politicians who are not in the same tent with her.
The tweep, identified as Souljah (@jeffphilips1), said all those who call the president a drug lord and level other allegations against him, will rush to the president on “a night yam trailer” if they received a call from the president at night and if there were no available airlines.
This statement was what birthed the controversy and exchange of words between Jeffphilips and Yesufu after the later quoted the formers’ tweet and wrote, ‘this slavish mindset from people like @jeffphilips1 is laughable.”
In series of tweets, both parties poured out their hearts as Jeffphilips proved his unwavering support for the APC administration.
He had tweeted, “drug lord drug lord, stolen mandate, corrupt yen yen yen, if Tinubu calls you this moment and flights are on strike, na night yam trailer you go enter go Abuja….stop all the noise”- a tweet Yesufu referred to as a laughable slavish mindset stating that there are people who turn down offers even from the federal government.
She prayed that Jeffphilips be upgraded to the “inner chambers” someday so that he would realize that.
“This slavish mindset from people like @jeffphilips1 is laughable.
“One day you will be upgraded to their inner chambers and you will get to hear of the number of people that turn them down.
“Help him retweet so they see how hard he works.” Yesufu wrote.
While referring to Yesufu’s investigative duties as useless, the tweep boasted of his integrity as one of the few on the blue app while challenging her to make her research and publish the findings.
He added that the investigative journalist have never dreamt of the kind of integrity he among others have.
“Hushmummi, hear me out, there are people on this app with the quantum of integrity you’ve never dreamt of in your life before, I’m proud to tell you I’m one of them and you’re free to take all your useful and useless time to make your research and publish the findings.,” He retweeted.
Responding, Yesufu wrote, “Slavish child I will NEVER have 1% of your kind of integrity. Keep hustling, one day you will get to be in the inner chambers where you will hear about those they know cannot be compromised. In the meantime, continue to manage being assigned to my TL👌.”
Dwelling on her choice of profession, Jeffphilips accused the activist and her spouse of corruption.
He said, “Shut your stinking mouth, nobody is inviting you to any table, you don’t have anything close to integrity flowing in your blood, you’re a huge fraud harvesting the anger of citizens for your own good. You were here attacking just every public office holder and calling them corrupt until a Twitter user exposed the fact your husband was head of finance in NHIS where corruption is the order of the day since inception and that was when you stopped accusing other public officers of corruption. You’re a fraud and everything concerning your life is proceeds of corruption and only reason you resorted to public activism for cover, you can only fool the gullible with pseudo-activism…Hushmummy in Hijab”
However, Yesufu rediculed the tweep as she claims he is only chasing clout with hopes of being noticed and rewarded by the government.
She reminded him of a failed government which he supported in the past without getting any rewards other than a self made assignment to her Twitter timeline.
Yesufu wrote, “And the failure of an administration you slaved for and this one you have started slaving for has not helped you recover this Nhis loot and send the looter to jail?🤣
“They shall have assigned you to my Twitter handle. Keep upgrading so they take you into their inner chambers.”
Aisha Yesufu is a Socio-political Advocate, Civic & Community Development Crusader, Public Speaker, and Educator often maligned for her stance on national issues in Nigeria by pro-government voices, according to Njideka Agbo who wrote in the Guardian.
On Twitter, where many Nigerians also live, Yesufu has been criticized severally for taking certain positions on national issues.
Her investigative reports and findings often introduces a truce between her and the subjects of her findings.
